Playing this A voicing

For the 2-2-2-2 diagram, use open-G tuning (g D G B D). Play only strings 4 to 1, the four long strings; leave the short fifth-string g out of the picking pattern or mute it.

Lay your index finger across all four long strings at fret 2. Pick each string separately, keeping the barre just behind the fret, and adjust until all four ring clearly.

To move to the A6 shape shown on its page (2-2-2-4), keep that barre in place and add your ring finger to string 1 at fret 4. Lift the ring finger to return to A; the other three strings stay at fret 2.
